iPhone!

Finally, apple released an iPhone with 3g. This is what I was waiting for, and I’m glad I have. The phone is great. Not perfect, but I’m sure the few bugs will be worked out. I’m typing this post from the wordpress app, just released on the app store today. Again, this app isn’t perfect, but I’m sure they will improve it over time. Some easy way to add urls would be nice, for example. Anyway, it was time for a blog post and so here it is.

Yeh, another couple of months without posting. But i have a valid excuse. Exams, and finishing my degree. I got a 2:1 by the way. For all americans who dont understand the british university system, that’s pretty good.

I have also started redesigning this blog. It’s not finished yet, and some things dont work (some links, the search bar), but it’s getting there. probably looks horrible in IE as well, but i’ll check that later on.

Ho hum.. what else is going on in my life… Well, phil and i went to NYC for a few days a week or so ago. Went to some sights, had some nice meals, went to see Coldplay at maddison square garden. Saw Jed and Kim, Anna, Ramona and Dan Drake (Dans a friend from uni, working in boston for OLPC at the moment, and the others i know from Long Lake Camp). So that was fun.

Right now i am living in Streatham with Ali, Kev and Phil, and also job hunting (do you work for a company with a software development dept of some kind? do they want to hire me? do YOU want to hire me? call me!).

That’s about it. I’ll be updating this more now. Keep reading.

I haven’t posted in ages. Not that anyone reads this anyway, but on the offchance that someone other then Thom checks this thing in one way or another here is what is happening to me at the moment, in a nutshell:

I have just been in Iolanthe, with MUGSS. Only a chorus part this time, but it was a fun show week, despite my dissertation deadline being the day of the first night.

I have just started my final exams ever!

Last weekend i was visiting Tim in southampton, photographing their PAU ball (some shots of that will be posted shortly)

Thats about it though. I will try to post more frequently from now on! Bedtime now though. Have to get ready for a big day revising tomorrow.

Ordered my Macbook Pro

Well i ordered my macbook pro yesterday. Just waiting for it to be shipped now. With any luck it will arrive early next week, so it will be waiting for me when i get back to manchester after visiting mum for easter. Exciting times. Exciting new toys.

Legal rights of photographer

A huge problem in amateur (and sometimes professional) photography, is knowing what you are, and aren’t allowed to photograph. Are you allowed to take pictures of that building and if a security guard demands you delete that photo, legally, do you have to?

Photojojo have given some tips on some of the laws of photography. I believe these are the american laws, but many of them are the same as in the U.

Really cool idea but its hard to set up, really slow, has very little instruction. For a company that makes so much, they could get their developer tools working a bit better. after all, the sites the developers are making are only going to bring more money in and we need some method of testing!

Just been sent the link above. It seems like the police are running some sort of fear-mongering campaign to get everyone thinking that anyone taking photos in public must be a terrorist. With london being the huge tourist spot it is, and everyone taking photos of… well, everything, im not really sure what the effect of this will be.

Paternal dog Billy takes on an unusual kid

I saw this a few days ago and meant to post it then, but forgot. This dog has dog has adopted an abandoned baby goat as his surrogate child. Or something like that. As a certain family member, who shall remain nameless, said, “he probably just wants some ‘happy meat’ for later”. I hope not!
